Fleet or Owner operators participating in the Mass Management module can access additional mass concessions. These concessions allow them to operate at Concessional Mass Limits (CML) for general access to the road network and on Gazetted roads Higher Mass Limits (HML). Mass Management Accreditation encourages heavy vehicle operators to take more responsibility for loading their trucks correctly within the stipulated regulations.
Benefits for all operators:
- Higher profits–HML provides an average 10% increase in payload, for example a 6 axle semi configuration increases from 42.5 tonnes to 45.5 tonnes, a 3 tonne advantage. B Doubles can increase their load from 62.5 tonnes to 68.5 tonnes, a 6 tonne advantage, on approved routes.
- Demonstrates your commitment to Chain of Responsibility requirements.
- Documented control over the workload of your vehicles.
- Improvements in productivity and efficiency.
- Increased vehicle life and lower maintenance costs.
- Reduced rejection of vehicles by customers because of overloading.
- Better relationships with enforcement agencies.
- Reduced impact of enforcement.
In some states there are real financial and productivity benefits by being in NHVAS Mass Management.
You don’t have to be a fleet operator to get the benefits though – owner drivers and smaller fleets can benefit from NHVAS Mass and Maintenance Management
